Remote working catching up among other companies to match pandemic requirements and get work done

While the UK Government already made plans about canceling their furlough scheme by the end of October since it will have powered the economy for eight months,  since the start of the pandemic by then, it doesn’t seem like it will have a  lot of positive implications.  The furlough scheme was put in place to encourage companies to keep the people they are working with with the Government paying 80% of their salaries, while they were only paying the difference.  It was initially put in place to assist companies to get back up through one of the worst recessions that the UK might be facing in more than three decades. Unfortunately, even with the schemes, there were a lot of people losing their jobs. Although the scheme was of significant help,  it does not seem to have served its purpose,  with speculations that a  large number of people are going to lose their jobs with the stoppage of the scheme, which might put the economy in a worse state than it currently is.

While the Government is firm onstopping the scheme in October, multiple bodies have gone through the details,and are petitioning for the addition of another scheme to assist people in thebest way possible. Since the start of the economy, more than three millionpeople have lost their jobs throughout the UK, which is not something to betaken lightly. While all these people might not be contributing to theunemployment rate, some are with the employment rate increasing from 3.9% sincethe beginning of 2020 to 4.1% as of August this year.

The Government began slowly opening everything up, from shops and markets to smaller businesses like restaurants, bars, and pubs, to assist the people in any way they could. The assumption was that people who were home for the longest time would finally use this as an opportunity to leave their houses and support these businesses. While many did just that, the response was not exactly as the Government had expected. Other changes included working remotely, which was a change most companies were adapting to, to assist with attending meetings and meeting deadlines, instead of traveling, which could increase the chances of catching the virus.

Remote working, which was a concept that was practiced by a lot of the new startups was not something done by many larger companies. However, with the pandemic, they were forced to adapt. Employers found that they were no longer meeting their employees face to face and that a large number of the people working on their projects had never set foot in the office. With so many new faces and a large number of new hires who had recently lost their jobs, the only way to make sure they were among the right people was by conducting background checks. The DBS check gave employes all the information about the past of people working for them or their prospective hires. It was one of the most common background checks which provided a lot of information, while the CRB check is another one that provides information and is commonly used by companies not needing all the details but enough to get through.
