Labour Inspection

Labour inspection in Timisoara is part of a network of 41 regional labour territories that implement the policy of the Romanian Ministry of Labour. This network also includes a separate labor inspectorate in the capital city, Bucharest. The capital city has many companies and a significant number of workplaces, so this inspectorate is responsible for monitoring and enforcing occupational safety and health. The inspectorate cooperates with the Ministry of Labour and the Research and Development Institute for Occupational Safety.

Social dialogue at territorial level

The economic environment at the time was not conducive. Employment rates declined sharply and the purchasing power of employees was eroded. Inflation reached two to three figures per year and major social unrest was prevalent. In that phase, the State and the trade unions were the main interlocators between employees and employers. The country’s economy had almost 90% of employees working in the state sector.

Law No. 319 of 2006

The aim of the law is to achieve significant improvements in the OSH field and improve the quality of life and work for all people. The law contains principles, consecutive provisions, and a number of specific measures to promote health and safety in the workplace. OSH Committees

The Romanian law defines the responsibility of employers for the protection of worker health and safety. In Romania, employers are legally required to implement a preventive plan and participate in the decision making process in relation to worker safety and health.
